About the Master Baker

From the Heart of Istanbul to You

Naci Saklica

Nasa Bakery owner and master baker, Naci (pronounced Na-gee) Saklica, has honed his craft for over two decades. His story begins in Batman, Turkey, where, as one of ten siblings, Naci’s interest in using food to unite people was born. His love for fostering togetherness and his passion for baking led him to operate a successful café in Istanbul for 10 years. There he developed an uncompromising commitment to quality products and to creating authentic Turkish pastries.

Naci’s pride lies in serving delicious, high-quality food and seeing the joy on people's faces. He hopes to continue his tradition of offering premium Turkish baked goods in his adopted city of Vancouver. For the past 3 years he has supplied products to various resellers and is now focusing on opening his own retail establishment.

Stop into Nasa Bakery & Cafe for a taste of the old country - try savoury pastries like his famous Simit, sesame-covered twisted bagels, crunchy on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside or its counterpart the Poğaça, a soft, hearty bread roll. Sample warm boat-shaped Pide, what might be called a “Turkish Pizza or try Menemen, fluffy scrambled eggs with tomatoes. Nasa Bakers offers the full experience of Turkish Breakfast, or as we say, Kahvaltı. This café is his piece of Istanbul, served fresh, daily.
